ATR expected ranges (ATR 14, 1H — computed from real candles)
ATR is the average hourly true range: stops closer than ~1 ATR get hit by ordinary noise, and size should shrink as ATR grows. It says nothing about direction.
10-minute pre-session routine
- Check the calendar first: any red (high-impact) event inside your trading window changes everything — Economic Calendar →
- Mark the overnight range: yesterday's high/low and the Asia box are your first reference levels — Charts →
- Size before you look for entries: decide risk %, stop distance, and lots in advance — Gold calculator → · Pip-value table →
- Write the invalidation down: the exact price that proves you wrong. If you can't name it, don't take the trade.
Frequently asked questions — Pre-Session Dashboard
What are the London and New York session times?
In UTC this dashboard uses: Asia 00:00–09:00, London 08:00–17:00, New York 13:00–21:00 — the same windows our Session Range chart tool draws. London and New York overlap 13:00–17:00 UTC, the highest-liquidity hours in forex.
What does ATR tell me before a session?
ATR(14) on the 1H chart is the average hourly true range. It sizes what a normal hourly swing looks like right now: stops closer than roughly one ATR get hit by noise, and position size should shrink as ATR grows.
