Starter thread, pinned. Every experienced trader was once embarrassed to ask what a pip was worth. This thread is the antidote.

Examples of perfectly welcome questions here: why did my loss exceed my stop? · what does 1:30 leverage actually do to my margin? · is 0.01 lots ever pointless? · why is my gold spread 40 cents at 3am?

Answering etiquette: explain the concept, then link the guide or tool that settles it (lots → glossary, sizing → calculator). If you don't know, don't guess — say so. Wrong certainty wastes more beginners than silence.

Team answer to the most-asked one: a pip is worth $10 per standard lot on EURUSD — and also $10 per standard lot on gold, despite completely different contract sizes. That mismatch is why sizing calculators exist. Full table: the pip-value page in Tools.

By rule, there are no stupid questions here. If a beginner question annoys you, answer it kindly or scroll on — mocking a genuine question is the fastest way to get shown the door.
